Why Choose Wensum Valley Golf?

7 Reasons to Choose Wensum Valley
for Your Next Golf Break

It’s a fair-way to spend the weekend

Set on the edge of a meandering river, the golf course at Wensum Valley Hotel, Golf & Country Club is as beautiful as it is challenging. Here are seven more reasons to book a weekend golf break…

1 Why play one course when you can play two?
Wensum Valley’s golf break packages include unlimited golf on two 18-hole courses – so there’s no way you’ll get bored during your stay!
Test yourself on the championship Wensum Course – a Par 72 course which measures 6,900 yards and requires both distance and accuracy for a successful round. Set in stunning Norfolk countryside, it features an island green and other water hazards, offering a testing round for even the most experienced golfer.
The slightly shorter Valley Course features tree-lined fairways, well-placed bunkers and challenging greens. This course demands accuracy off the tee and skill on the undulating greens, but is guaranteed to provide an enjoyable round for every standard of golfer.
Both are built on free-draining soil and are therefore playable throughout the year.

2 Don’t miss the driving range
The practice doesn’t have to stop when the sun goes down. Wensum Valley has a 12-bay floodlit driving range where you can perfect your swing or simply have some fun trying to reach the target greens. Head out after dinner to work on your tee shots or, if the heavens decide to open, you can still get in some practice and stay dry in the undercover bays.
There’s also a putting practice area, so plenty of opportunity to work on your game while you’re here.

3 Improve your game with help from the resident professional
Whatever your level of golfing ability, there’s always room for improvement, and at Wensum Valley you can book lessons with former PGA European Tour professional Haydn Selby-Green.
Haydn competed for several years before taking up teaching and has helped hundreds of golfers develop their game.
All lessons and practice plans are tailored to suit your individual skills and requirements and start from as little as £15.

4 Reconnect with nature
The eponymous club is set along the edges of the River Wensum, which in 2004 was made a European Special Area Of Conservation and is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
It’s an idyllic location which takes in vistas of the valley – the meandering river, grazing cattle and resident wildlife. Don’t forget your phone for those “wish you were here” social media posts.

5 All the gear at new golf shop
Opened last year, the golf shop at Wensum Valley features everything from clothing and footwear to accessories and equipment from all the major brands, including Ping, Callaway, Titleist, Under Armour and Motocaddy – which has also chosen Wensum as its service agent for warranties and repairs.
It’s the perfect place to get some new gear and put it through its paces on the two courses.

6 Try before you buy in simulator room
Built at the same time as the golf shop, the fitting suite and Skytrak golf simulator room offers a truly immersive shopping experience.
Demo equipment allows golfers to try all the latest products and bespoke fitting is delivered by Haydn and his team.
The simulator has 100,000 courses to choose from, giving players the opportunity to experience the challenge and fun of some of the world’s greatest links, such as Augusta and Pebble Beach, in a comfortable and spacious setting.
As well as being a useful tool for fitting, it’s also a great place for lessons and, if the weather’s unfavourable, it can be booked for a full round in the warm and dry.

7 Relax and unwind between rounds
If you need a break from the fairway, Wensum Valley has an on-site leisure centre comprised of a fully-equipped gym, swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Perfect for easing those aching muscles!
The Valley Restaurant, with its stunning views over the golf courses, is the perfect setting for a meal. All food is freshly prepared by the talented team of chefs using local produce wherever possible. With an extensive bar menu available from 7am-9.30pm every day and a Table d’Hôte menu in the evening, there is something for everyone.
